Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some of the questions I am most commonly asked.  If you do not find the answer to your particular question, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks!

I'm not sure you can help me with my problem?

As a fully trained professional, I expect to be able to deal with the majority of foot problems. However, if you have any particular concerns, please do not hesitate to discuss them with me prior to booking an appointment.

Will I need more than one appointment?

Most problems can be easily dealt with in one session and advice will be given on preventing or delaying recurrence of the problem.  Follow up appointments may be advised, but are not compulsory.

I only have one corn, can you help?

Yes, of course!  During your foot assessment, I will check to make sure there aren't any other troubles brewing; but if you only have 1 corn, that's all I'll need to treat!

Will it hurt?

The majority of corns, calluses and even some ingrown toenails can all be dealt with quickly and painlessly. I'm allergic to pain myself, so always try to be as gentle as possible! I will of course advise you beforehand, if I suspect treatment may be uncomfortable.

How much does it cost?

It is £45 for the initial home visit, which includes assessment and treatment.  For ongoing routine chiropody/podiatry care (nails, corns, callus)  the cost is £40 per treatment, whilst  for simple footcare treatments (nail cutting) its £35.  If I am able to see two people together at the same address, then I reduce the total fee to £60 for both treatments.  There are special rates available for Nursing and Residential Homes - please contact me for more details.

Who do you treat?

I am happy to see anybody, of any age, with any kind of foot problem!  Having worked for 16 years in the NHS I am very experienced in dealing with a multitude of problems: high risk feet, the elderly, diabetics and sports injuries to name but a few!

Can I claim on my medical insurance?

Yes, you can.  My level of expertise and training is recognised by all major health insurance companies and I always leave a receipt for payment.  If in doubt, it's best to check with your insurer first to ensure they will refund all/part of your cost of treatment.

I don't have any medical problems - I just need a bit of hard skin removing!

No problem! I'm happy to help, and very glad you are healthy.   Sorting smaller problems as they arise can help maintain health and mobility in the long run.

What my patients are saying

I'm so glad you're able to come out to my house.  It saves the family having to take me out somewhere as they all have to do so much for me as it is.
